Kizuro lies on the border between Mie and Wakayama prefectures. The interesting landform created by the winding river of Kitayama give this power spot its name as the dragon of wind and water.
To see Kizuro you must first climb the mountains. There are no mountain paths, maps or sign posts.
So if you go I recommend joining a tour through the Shimazu Tourist association!
I met up with the guide from Shimazu Tourism.
We are going to start our journey through the mountain.
Our point of destination is the observation spot where we can view the mysterious island of Kizuro which lies deep in the mountains.
Walking further along the trail there are lots of bugs. I put covered up so they wouldn’t touch my skin.
The guide found something on the ground after picking it up and showing me.. It was a snake!! I was inspired by all the nature around me, but I was so happy that I didn’t get bitten!
Suddenly the mountain path opened up and I could see the secret island! I wondered why it became such a strange shape. After indulging in my thoughts I dazed off and watched the boats pass by on the Kitayama river. I felt so accomplished to reach here and see such beautiful sights.
